Most of you know the story, but for those who don't... My landlord, the third owner in the eight years I've lived there, had everyone on a month-to-month lease after the first year he owned the building. He informed me I needed to move. I tried delaying by going through the courts, since at the start I didn't have a job. I then got a good paying job, but couldn't find a place fast enough, before time ran out, and the locks got changed.
I stayed with someone for almost two weeks, but we have the same landlord. He let her know he was aware I was there, and reminded her only 14 days allowed, or he could kick them out too. So, I bought a tent, and paid for five nights at a campground. Even the cheap hotels are at least $120+ for a weekday. I got a grand opening deal at this place, but that price goes to average $70 a night, the day I check out.
Also, I had been borrowing my friend's car since I worked overnights. Can't do that now. A cab is $35-50 ONE WAY, depending on what night. So being intentionally "vague," I'm teleporting ;) from the campground to work, and back. Folks have wanted to help, but I don't have any of the peer-to-peer payment accounts. I do have a Wal-Mart One debit card, and they would allow gofundme deposits. So per requests, I'm setting this up.
I chose Emergency, instead of paying bills, or other, since those don't convey the true urgency of my situation. They suggested $3000. I think that's WAY too much to put as a goal, but I am trying to do three possible things.
1) Get a safe, legal and insured vehicle to reliably get to work, and also be able to be called in with no notice to cover absences. 2) Raise money to put towards the first month's rent and any deposits if I do get approved for housing somewhere. Local area rent averages well over $1000 plus utilities, and that's a one-bedroom apartment if you're lucky.
Another kicker, I have cats, who do qualify as ESA, by my mental health provider. A dog would actually cause me to be worse off, with the level of care they need. Cats require just enough care to prevent me from shutting down, but not too much that would overwhelm me, and cause me to shut down. So an already unaffordable pool of apartments, are narrowed down even more. I think I've rambled too long already. If you have questions, most of you are FB friends with me already, just send me a message. Thanks for listening.
