Hey everyone, I’m writing this with a lot of discomfort and sadness in my heart. This year has been beyond a whirlwind of upset and changes in my daily life, leading to me being out of work for the past month while I wait on my new job to begin.
In what feels like a comedy of chaos, I went through a breakup, was led to believe I wasn’t going to be able to renew my apartment lease, put in my notice and made plans to move out of state, and hired my replacement — only to find out the same day that my apartment complex had gone ahead and renewed my lease for another year.
I immediately pivoted to staying, secured a job at The Crunkleton in Chapel Hill (starting August 7th), and began selling whatever valuable possessions I have to stay afloat. I am very grateful for the immense amount of community I’ve found in those helping with meals, groceries, laundry, and rides to and from wherever I may need to go.
Unfortunately, today my apartment complex notified me that if I’m not able to pay the late rent amount for July, then I will not be able to stay here much longer. Hence this GoFundMe.
I don’t believe in receiving something for “nothing,” so if you donate and wish to receive a tangible item in return — message me your address on FB and I will personally send you a handwritten book of 40 poems, written by me!
All of this money will be going towards paying rent, covering utility bills, and groceries if there is any amount left over.
