I need help being able to afford groceries that I can batch prep in advance before summer and triple digit temperatures hit. Due to fibromyalgia and severe chronic fatigue, I will not be able to cook when the weather turns hot, and each year I experience worsened malnutrition during our very long summers. I can't afford to lose ground again this year. My safe food options are limited due to extensive food allergies and I have to source specialty items that are often very costly. My hope is to raise enough funds to be able to buy ingredients and freezer-friendly containers that are safe for me, and my mom and I will batch prep as much as we can before hot weather arrives. I'm running out of time - May is when hot temperatures begin but I can't predict the day. I'll be utilizing a microwave to reheat pre-made frozen food, and an instant pot to cook uncooked, pre-prepped food. $200-$300 will be directed to containers and amazon-ordered items like a corn-safe powdered protein for adding to smoothies. The rest will go toward fresh ingredients that will freeze well and be easy to batch prep.
Update 4/21/2025 I have increased the maximum amount to fund at the request of friends who have generously desired to give above the initial amount. As you may know, this week we discovered that despite our extraordinary and costly efforts, we remain in-debt to PG&E and we have no current means of solving this problem. The full amount owed is about $1800. We hope to have the option of establishing a payment plan, but that requires an up-front payment of several hundred dollars and a monthly bill that we currently have no means of affording. We have been given a temporary stay of execution on the shut-off notice. My hope is to use $1000 for my food needs. I have a prescription costing approximately $80 (exact price TBD once I have the funds to have it compounded) that is the second priority on my list, and then anything above that amount raised here will go toward PG&E.
Thank you SO much to everyone who has given. You have overwhelmed me with your generosity. I didn't think this was going to work. It's been one of the biggest and most surprising blessings of my entire life. What incredible kindness. Thank you for the hope and provision you have given. I cherish you.
