N. Mississippi's gem at the bottom of the hill, Liberty Glass Bar & Restaurant, is in need of your support! Donate to help us put a down payment on our building so we can be here for the long term.
For 11 years, Liberty Glass has served the people of North Portland quality bar food and drink in a uniquely homey environment--a literal old house turned neighborhood watering hole. It's where old Portland and new intersect, communing over a cold pint and a hot bite.
Liberty Glass's owner, Rose McCormick, opened the business in 2008 with her brother, motivated by the desire to serve the service industry, who they believed deserved access to a good meal when they got off work late. They were two food-loving kids from the Midwest with the simple dream of working for themselves and creating someplace special with a home-away-from-home vibe for working people to unwind.
To this day, Liberty Glass remains a small-scale, family-owned business that is constantly learning new and better ways to serve the community, and we are only getting started!
Now Rose an opportunity to buy the building. She just needs a little help from you in raising $23,000 to put towards a down payment to keep us moving forward, which is why we have created this campaign.
Here’s what else the bar is doing to raise money:
We are printing special edition totes, hoodies and hats in addition to our classic t-shirts which will be available by late September.
Next, we are hosting a house fundraising party Saturday, September 28th. The first annual Oysters & Apples Festival will include apples and tasting from Kiyokawa Family Farms, homemade apple pie, lots of Hama Hama oysters and tunes from some of your favorite local musicians.
A donation to our campaign is a decisive step towards keeping our red door open to you. Thanks so much to all who donate. Your continued patronage at the bar also helps tremendously. Your presence has kept us going for 11 years, and we want to continue bringing you the same hospitality that brings you back to us.
Plus, we’ve got some pretty cool thank you gifts for donations over $50, including Liberty Glass t-shirts, coozies, prints, homemade pies made to order, and upstairs party rentals.
Finally, importantly, we ask that you share this campaign to help get the word out. Liberty Glass is a special bar to many, and its presence in increasingly urbanized surroundings is something worth preserving.
