I’m a 42 year old queer, Black cisgender woman and mom of one amazing kiddo. I made the decision to end my 7 year marriage after having come to realize that not only was I deeply unhappy in the relationship, but that I had been the victim of years of coercive control. The abuse intensified when I became pregnant and even more so once I decided to leave. Over the last year, I’ve endured a LOT of challenges, many of them related to finances. I’ve received a great deal of support thus far and I’m truly grateful for it. I wish I could say the fight is over, but it’s not quite yet.

All I want is to ensure a peaceful, stable life for myself and my little one, free from emotional, mental, and financial abuse and to be divorced before this administration fully comes after no fault divorce, making it that much harder to escape.

I’m seeking support to cover legal fees to retain my attorney for the remaining legal battles ahead. I am scheduled for a Relocation Hearing in late spring and it is imperative that I maintain representation for this trial. Additionally, I must also retain services to get my divorce resolved. Because the opposition and their counsel purposefully refused to accept service in a timely manner (or at all), these processes have been dragged out and the previous retainer has been exhausted. My overall goal is 10k which will cover 2 retainers (relocation & divorce). Any additional funds received will go towards monthly expenses.
