Help Secure Justice for Nonbinary Employee
Donation protected
Hi friends. As most of you know, I recently came out as nonbinary/gender nonconforming. Since making my identity known in my workplace (which shall remain anonymous), I unfortunately have been encountering discriminatory behavior from another employee. I have brought the issue to HR and escalated it as high as possible, but have been met with bad faith arguments, denial/dispute of the issue at hand, and a claim of religious accommodation to not refer to me by my pronouns.
The stress of the situation has led to my mental and physical health suffering, including lapses in eating disorder behavior, worsening anxiety, depression, and struggling to sleep more than 2-4 hours most nights. This culminated in me fainting during a recent shift. After seeking medical attention, it was found to be "a response to severe stress".
Due to the current economic climate, leaving the financial security of my job for one with a more accepting culture is not an option. I am left only with the ability to pursue my claims legally through MCAD and the EEOC.
I am seeking financial assistance so I can afford to hire an attorney to represent me in this matter. I have already found one who is willing to take my case and offer me a generous rate, but on my own I would only be able to afford to hire him in a limited capacity as an advisor for submitting my claim, rather than as full representation.
If you have read this far, I cannot begin to describe how thankful I am for your time and empathy. If I have made any impact in your life at all, as a peer, a family member, a friend, an educator, a community member, an advocate, please consider donating to my legal fund. I am truly grateful for any amount anyone can manage. If you can't afford to donate, please share this so it can reach more people.
