Help Secure Ishmeet's Future in the US!

Hi, my name is Chiarina Hunt ! I’m fundraising for my best friend, Ishmeet Kaur. She just earned her BS in computer science, and I am SO proud of her!! She came here from Jabalpur, India, to pursue her education here. 4 years ago, she embarked on a journey full of huge risks and unknowns when she moved to the other side of the world, into an unfamiliar language, culture, and place, and knowing no one. It’s something I would never be capable of, and I really admire her for it! She’s had to summon an extraordinary amount of courage, perseverance, and grit to succeed here, the kind most people spend a lifetime building.

During her years at IC, she worked as an RA, an Office Assistant for Reslife, and as an audio tech with the IT department (somehow all at the same time, in addition to a full course load!!) Her favorite part of being an RA was building meaningful connections with her residents, and when I attended her floor events, I really saw the way she guided them, supported them, and made a friend in all of them (they still adore her!)

She’s someone who loves her friends and her family fiercely. I had the privilege of meeting her wonderful sisters and her lil nephew, and during our trip, she spent every waking moment playing with her nephew, talking with him, and giving him hugs and kisses. I saw her deep love for her family, and this helped me really understand her motivation for working so hard (to be able to support them) on a deeper level.

After graduating, and despite her hard work and qualifications, she’s now struggling to find a job due to widespread hiring freezes and insane competition in the tech industry. If she doesn’t secure a position in her field within three months, she risks losing her visa and being forced to leave the country.

That’s why I’m asking for your help. First, if you know of any job openings or opportunities in tech or IT that are open to international students/graduates, please reach out, we would greatly appreciate it! We are also trying to raise $8,000 to support her in two ways:

1. Tuition support for a master’s program in computer science or a related field. This would allow her to maintain her visa status while continuing to grow her skills and knowledge.

2. Living expenses during this critical time while she continues applying to jobs and grad programs. This will buy her some time, space, and stability to keep going.
