Help Secure Future for Andrea Santos’ Fur Babies

Hello, my name is Julie Niccoli-Murray. On Friday, May 24, Andrea (Widener) Santos, a beloved friend to countless people and a colleague of many in the Valley, passed away leaving behind her two dogs Jake and Sugar Bear. Andrea was smart, hilarious, beautiful, entertaining, kind, generous and genuine. If you met Andrea, you knew Andrea.

We have been asked how to honor Andrea at this time.

As many of you may know, Andrea had a huge heart for animals. Currently, Jake and Sugar Bear have been taken in by close family friends, The Ratliffs. Their future home is uncertain at this time, but be assured this bonded pair will remain together and be loved. They will be staying with The Ratliffs temporarily until it is decided where they will be loved permanently.

Andrea would want only the best for Jake and Sugar Bear. If you have ever loved a pet, you are aware there is cost AND unexpected cost. Last year, Jake got himself into a spot of trouble and required a $7,000 life saving surgery.

This GoFundMe is being established to give Jake and Sugar Bear a financial safety net/pet fund for their future. It will be used by their new family for any care they need, and will be managed by myself and Vicki Ratliff.

Any remaining funds not used to care for Jake and Sugar Bear will be donated to Lost Our Home Pet Rescue here in the Valley (or a similar rescue). Lost Our Home Pet Rescue provides temporary and permanent homes for pets that have lost their owners due to death, deployment and those experiencing homelessness. If you would prefer to donate to a different animal shelter instead of this GoFundMe, that would be a thoughtful option as well. We all miss her dearly and can’t think of a better way to honor her.
