Help secure a Safe Future for Samantha's Girls

Hi, my name is Samantha Walton. I'm a devoted mom to two amazing girls, a preschool teacher, Girl Scout troop treasurer, and an active member of our local family council. We’ve worked hard to rebuild our lives after escaping an abusive situation, creating a loving, stable home in a new state where my daughters thrive — they’re doing great in school, active in the community, and surrounded by support, friends, and care.

Now, I’m in the middle of a custody battle and urgently need help. I’m raising $7,000 for a lawyer retainer fee to reopen our case and protect the well-being of my daughters. This isn’t about keeping them from their father — I’ve always supported their relationship with him, while doing everything I can to keep them safe until a court can properly review the evidence and police reports.

Unfortunately, due to legal maneuvering, I was misled by the opposing counsel and unable to present any of my evidence at the last hearing — it appeared as if I didn’t show up, when in reality, I was following what had been discussed through emails. I was “lawyered,” and my daughters are the ones who will suffer most unless I can act fast.

The new legal team I hope to hire believes I have a strong case for a brand-new trial. But time is critical. Without legal representation, I can’t file the emergency documents needed to keep my daughters safe — and I can’t risk trying to handle this alone.

While the full legal costs could ultimately total $10,000–$20,000, depending on how the case proceeds across state lines, my immediate need is $7,000 to retain my lawyer and begin this crucial work. Any extra funds raised will go directly toward legal fees and travel back to Georgia, where I will appear in person — I’m not taking any more chances with Zoom court appearances.
