Help Secure a Safe and Efficient E-bike for Daily Commute

Hi, I am in need of a new bike. My current bike is losing reliability by the use. If I cannot get a new bike, I will be left with zero mobility. That is not good because my town is unwalkable, and I’ll be stuck at home. I definitely cannot afford a car either. Currently, my bike is my only mode of transportation and it would be a mess if it were to kick the bucket before I get a new one.

Just today, on the way to school, the chain fell off while I was in the middle of a crosswalk. Not only is this dangerous because I risk getting hit by a speeding driver, but it is also a time consumer as it requires great force to realign the chain. It held me back 12 minutes which left me two to sign myself into class.

A few weeks ago, I decided to go fishing. I had no problems getting there, but on return it started to pour cats and dogs. Yet again, my bike chain broke. This time I was left stranded about four and a half miles from home in the middle of the woods with no shelter from the storm. In addition, the chain gashed my finger after it slipped because I couldn’t grip it tight enough in the wet.

On top of that, I have to gamble whether the gears will switch or not. Sometimes, the gears don’t even switch at all, leaving me pulling myself up the hill. This is especially bad when it’s stuck on the highest while I’m going uphill.

Adding onto that, my brake disc is half rusted and half zero-friction. This is a big drawback because the rust will wear out my brake pads like a cheese grater. The zero-friction half is bad as well because I have to squeeze about five times harder to get the same braking force as if it was normal. Braking is essential because there are stop signs everywhere.

To finish, multiple other systems are unreliable/broken. The handles slip off (and aren’t ergonomic), the kickstand doesn’t do its sole job to stand my bike up, the shocks are rusted making my load fall off when it gets slightly bumpy, and my seat cuts off circulation to my thighs after half an hour of riding.

You may ask why I seek donation instead of replacing the broken parts. But that is not viable. I cannot just replace each part one-by-one because the price and effort is just not worth having an almost-new mechanical bicycle. Some parts also require precision tools or power tools, in which I have neither. And, the bike ride I take everyday to school is uphill, so it’s not worth paying half a grand for a “refurbished bike” that I can use while destroying my quads. In context of school, one may ask why I can’t just “ride the bus”. While I can ride the bus, the county has decided to allocate one bus to where I live. This leads to the bus being packed every morning and afternoon, with the seats so filled that students unfortunately have to stand in the aisle and sit on the bus steps. Plus, some students haven’t fully developed consideration for others, making both rides miserably loud and smelly. That is a main reason why I ride my bike instead.

Now, to fix this problem, I have spent my time researching e-bikes and other means of transportation. I’ve came to the conclusion that a long-range, pedal-assist, touring e-bike would suit me best. Like the name, it’s built for long-range distances.

My ride to school on the bike is about twelve miles to-and-from. The e-bike I have chosen, the Ride1Up Turris, has the capability and capacity to carry me and my belongings reliably and safely wherever my destination lies.

Having this bike will greatly aid in transportation. I’ll be able to ride everyday to school, avoiding the miserable bus and slow morning traffic. It will also let me ride on trails where I cannot drive. It will allow me to get to my favorite fishing spots in the forest. It will let me run small errands for myself as well. Also, it will save TONS of gas and taxi money. And not only that, it is green and electric, so I can ride for miles while keeping the environment cleaner and quieter. Since it has pedals, I can still get my cardio and legs in. So in general, it will save time, money, and headaches.

The only issue is the price, which is why I have created this donation page. I am seeking enough money to purchase the most basic

In conclusion, I would like some help to pay for a brand new e-bike so I can have a safe and efficient mode of transportation, and to replace my old and rusted, unreliable bicycle. Thank you for reading and considering donation.

I will be pitching in to my own donation as well.

Here is the link to the E-bike I have selected: Ride1Up Turris
From what I’ve researched, this bike perfectly appeals to my needs. The Turris is a mid-end low budget e-bike meant for higher speeds and longer distances. It is the best option for my needed balance of range, speed, and capacity. Users say it is a very reliable option.

The funds raised will be used for the Turris and the Turris only. This is the base price of the e-bike as listed on the Ride1Up Website. Tax, shipping, and handling is not covered in this donation.
