I am asking for help in order to buy a car in the next 4 weeks. After an unexpected work-related change, I find myself limited in my ability to work without a vehicle. Considering much of my work involves driving to remote site locations, continuing without my own transportation eliminates me from many job opportunities.

My goal is to get a car that is safe and reliable enough to last at least another five years, hopefully without major repairs needed in the next 6 months to a year. Unfortunately, because of this job change and my upcoming transition into grad school, I will not have consistent income that will allow me to finance and maintain monthly payments. I currently have $4,000 that I can put toward a purchase, but the research I have done makes me doubt that cars at that price point will feel safe and reliable for myself and my son. I am asking that those who are able and willing help to match my personal contribution, allowing me to feel more secure in the options available to me.
