As you all know, over the past few months I was in and out of hospitals Critical Care Units. These were due to an allergic reaction from a chemotherapy that I underwent to treat my spinal cord tumors. As a result of those hospitalizations, I now have some pretty severe anxiety and PTSD. My family and I are hoping to get myself a service dog to help with this. Not only can it help relieve some of the anxiety and trauma I experienced from those hospital visits, but being a paraplegic it can also help me with so many other tasks. The dogs are trained to pick up dropped items and hand them to me, press automatic door buttons to help me get through doors in public places, provide deep pressure training to help with anxiety attacks, and other tasks that will help me navigate life better as someone with a disability. As probably all of you know, pets are life-changing and simply can make each day better, and we know a service dog will help make my life as a paraplegic much simpler and bring a lot of joy into an otherwise tough situation. Unfortunately, service dogs are extremely expensive, especially when you’re on a set income. With that being said, I’m creating a “go fund me” account. We’re hoping and praying that with this, it’ll make this wish a reality. Thank you everybody in advance, this will truly be life-changing if made possible.
