We are launching a historic campaign to secure a permanent home for the Pride Community Center of North Central Florida.

My name is Jackie Davison, and I am the operations manager of The Lynx bookstore. Co-founded by writer Lauren Groff and her husband Clay Kallman, The Lynx primarily seeks to uplift marginalized voices in our community, and we are deeply invested in the cultural and civic life of Gainesville. We wholeheartedly believe in the work being done in Gainesville by the Pride Community Center of North Central Florida (PCCNCF), and we are honored to help launch this campaign at such an important moment for our community.

The PCCNCF is launching a historic fundraising campaign with a goal to raise $80,000 to secure and sustain a new home. In April 2026, the PCCNCF was urgently forced to vacate their physical space in Gainesville. They quickly regrouped, working with Gainesville realtor Teresa Callen, and found a potential new home in a centralized location. The PCCNF seeks to purchase a commercial property with the space to continue providing free events, group meetings, crisis support, and more.

Purchasing a commercial property is the most effective way to secure a permanent home for the LGBTQIA+ community of Gainesville, a place where people can gather, find support, and know they belong for years to come.

We believe in this vision. We believe in what this community has already accomplished and in what it can become.

For more than two decades, the PCCNCF has been a safe harbor—a place for support, celebration, and advocacy. The LGBTQIA+ community has grown in Gainesville from an act of courage into a lasting force for connection and care. In 1992, five brave volunteers created the first Pride festival at Westside Park, even in the face of intimidation. They chose visibility, joy, and unity—and that spirit has never faded. What began as a bold stand became a cherished tradition, and eventually, a vital institution.

Our goal of $80,000 is an ambitious number—but this community has never backed down from a challenge. We need your help and support.

Join us in supporting this effort. Together, we can help ensure that future generations inherit not just a history of courage, but a place to call their own.
