This is about K. Zia Bhai. He was an incredibly talented writer and composer. I’ve worked with him for many years on countless projects. Most of the time, the contracts were made in a way where it was a total buyout. Whatever Zia Bhai was paid was under a work-for-hire agreement. He wasn’t entitled to any royalties or residuals. He willingly signed over all his rights to the people he wrote for.

A lot of big-name artists in Bangladesh also used him as a ghostwriter. He would write and compose songs and sell them, without getting any credit. That was the deal, and he honored it.

Zia Bhai passed away a few weeks ago. He left behind 2 young kids and a wife. She has never asked anyone for help. What I’m doing here is completely on my own.

I want to do something for his kid. I’m going to support as much as I can, but I’m also asking you to open your heart and help. I’m trying to start a small trust or fund so that one day, when the kid is old enough for school or needs something important, there’s a little support waiting.
