Help Secure A Down Payment On A Home
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Andrew, but I'm also known online as Malfaren.
For the past four years, my disabled mother and I have lived in a rental property that we have been solely responsible to maintain and repair. Despite mentioning a possible rent-to-own agreement when we first moved in, our landlords have never expressed any interest until just recently when they offered to sell the home to us through self-financing the purchase-- but will still need a down payment to go with it. With a yearly increase in rent, it has become harder and harder to break even or save every month, especially when any unforeseen expenses pop up (as they often times do). Renting being the way that it is, however, it would be cheaper for us to pay monthly house payments than it would be to deal with ever increasing rent. We decided that we'd like to take them up on the offer.
Due to several unfortunately large expenses (dental work a few months ago for myself, as well as some unforeseen medical expenses for my mother), the money I had saved up for just such an occasion has evaporated. It's tough to rebuild those savings at the present moment and, while I'm not expecting my landlords to put the property up for public sale, I imagine that will be their plan in the next several years as they are getting older and clearly aren't interested in maintaining multiple properties for much longer. Thus, I felt it couldn't hurt to open up a GoFundMe to see if I can get a leg up and open up the door to a better life for myself, my mother, and my boyfriend (who I would love to have move in with us). Even if we just get a little bit of help to the 3% down payment, it would go an extremely long way.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. If for whatever miracle the goal is reached, any remaining funds will go towards either a larger down payment or the first proper house payments down the road. Shares are appreciated.
