Help Sebastian Lambert achieve his sporting dreams

Donation protected

My name is Rachel Lambert and I am a single mother of three wonderful children.  We live on Denman Island, which is a tiny Northern Gulf Island, off Vancouver Island.

This Go-Fund-Me is for my child Sebastian (age 14) and to support his expenses in achieving his international sporting dreams.

Sebastian's Football Story

Last fall, playing as a Comox Valley Raider, he won the MVP trophy for the Junior Bantam team.  As a 14 year old, he has shown so much pure dedication and passion to the sport.   He played both offence and defence and was the team kicker.  His amazing speed and tough tackles gained him a fan club in the stands, with both adults and children and earned him the nickname of “Ninja”, due to his speed and ability to twist and turn past opponents.  Last fall, at awards night, he was highly praised, in a wonderful speech, by his head coach, for being such a superbly, talented and dedicated natural athlete.

Sebastian's future goal, is to get a scholarship for college and then play professional football.  This opportunity is a fabulous way, to start building those dreams!

THE OPPORTUNITY

Despite his concerns over the costs involved, I recently encouraged Sebastian to try out for a place, on the, All-Star Youth Sports 14 & U BC Football team.  There were try outs all over BC and when the selection list was announced and Sebastian saw his name on the list, he was so honored to have made it onto such a team!  It was an evening of tears and cheers for us all!

Sebastian will join this young BC football team, to compete in Los Angeles in December 2019, for 6 days.  They are going to be playing in the Snoop Dogg National Football Championship!  While at this LA tournament, they will be competing against some of the best teams from the USA, and they are the only Canadian team that has been invited to play!

In the lead up to the December tournament, Sebastian will be required to travel to Vancouver, from Denman Island, (which is 2 ferry rides) for regular team practice.   Intense hours of training, with superb coaches.

I am hoping that this footballing opportunity, will give Sebastian greater confidence and that your gift will give him many wonderful life-influencing experiences.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP

I have always stressed to Sebastian, that he should embrace opportunities as they present themselves.  I encouraged him to give this his best shot and if he was to make the team, we would work out the finances somehow.  I am hopeful, that with the generosity of our family, friends and community, that we can make it happen!

The California trip itself, will cost $2,100.00 and the travel for training in Vancouver, throughout the year, will add up to at least an additional $1,500 (without considering fuel, meals or accommodation.)

All money raised through this fund, will go towards helping pay for his complete experience.  It will cover everything from ferry and air travel, accommodation, meal expenses to coaching, insurance and buying his necessary sports and safety equipment.  We are prepared to keep costs down, as much as possible, by sleeping in our vehicle and packing meals from home, for our regular Vancouver trips, as well as budgeting and saving, to cover as much of these costs as our family can afford.

Sebastian is a very bright, conscientious boy, who understands, that as a single parent, it takes a lot of energy, time and finances, to keep he and his sisters, doing the sporting activities that they love.  He has always worked hard, collecting returnables and gaining himself summer employment, to help pay for things he requires.  He also works very hard at school, getting on the principal's honour roll, with superb grades and he participates in the school sports teams.

For those of you who have met Sebastian, you already know, that he is  rather shy and humble, but when it comes to sports, he always praises his entire team, for any of their successes.  And as his proud mum, I think that is why he is such a popular member of his team, both on and off the field.

I hope that people will see and feel how deserving Sebastian is and be willing to help him out, in his sporting goals and endeavours.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read Sebastian's story, I hope you are compelled to help us achieve this dream!
