My name is Karalyn and I need help raising the funds necessary to take my little man, Sebastian, to get his seizure disorder re-evaluated by his vet. He's had a recent and rather startling uptick in seizures since his last check-up a few months ago, despite being on seizure medication.
In 2020, Sebastian bonked his head on some stairs trying to get up them too fast. On the surface this didn't seem like much of an issue; he's always been an enthusiastic and spunky boy and he's run head first into things before. This time was different. He'd managed to hit his head hard enough to cause swelling which then triggered a stroke. That stroke permanently damaged part of his brain and he started having frequent seizures. These were largely focal seizures so he'd essentially lose awareness and often times his motor ability. His eyes would glaze over and go distant and most of the time he would just freeze, like a statue, and when he wasn't having seizures, he was showing signs of distress.
After a lot of testing, he was finally put on seizure medication and for the last 5 years that seizure medication has worked. He stopped having seizures almost entirely and went back to being his happy, spunky self.
However, since March, he's started having seizures again. At first they were mostly infrequent and I was urged to just keep an eye on him, but recently he's having them every day... sometimes multiple times a day. Most of the time these seizures are different than the ones he'd had before and he's having a much larger physical response: tremors and twitching, loss of balance, and loss of awareness.
I need to take him in to be checked out in order to increase, add, or change his medication, but I am short on the funds on the funds to take to the vet to get him what he needs. So if you can help; even a little will go a long way to getting my little buddy help. And if you can't, please share this story around.
