A few days ago my dog Sebastian was diagnosed with IMHA, a life-threatening autoimmune disease where his immune system attacks and destroys his own red blood cells.

Without those red blood cells, his body can’t carry oxygen the way it should. The vet says there is still hope, but the treatment and monitoring he needs will be expensive, and this will likely be a long road.

The testing, medications, and emergency care have already cost thousands, and he will need continued treatment and follow-up visits as we fight to get him through this sudden and life-threatening diagnosis.

After 48 hours and multiple medications, our vet says he is showing signs of improvement. That gives us hope — but this fight will not be easy on the heart or the wallet.
