Help Sebastian Afford Urgent Dental Surgeries Before Grad

Hi everyone,

My name is Sebastian Colondres, and I’m a graduating senior at Stanford University. I’m reaching out for support during one of the most difficult moments of my college journey. Right before graduation, I’ve been hit with a medical crisis that’s left me facing a series of urgent and expensive dental surgeries—and I need your help.

A severe cyst in my upper jaw has completely destroyed the roots of my two front teeth and the surrounding bone. Without immediate treatment, the cyst could spread further—killing the roots of my neighboring teeth and even breaking through the bone into my nasal cavity, which could become life-threatening. This is not just a dental issue; it’s a serious medical emergency with real health risks.

To treat it, I need three surgeries:

  • Tooth extraction, cyst removal, biopsy, and bone grafting
  • Placement of dental implants
  • Crown installation and final restoration

The full process will take over a year and cost me around $17,000. $7k for the first surgery, $6k for the second, and $4k for the final one.

Despite my best efforts—appealing to insurance and Stanford’s financial aid office—I’ve been told I must cover the full cost myself. But neither I nor my family can shoulder this. I’ve already maxed out my federal student loans, and taking out a private loan would seriously hurt my credit and future stability—especially as I prepare to graduate and enter the workforce.

When I first thought Stanford might be able to help, I told my parents through tears of relief. We finally thought we had a way to afford it. But with that option gone, we’re back at square one—facing a major medical event we simply can’t afford.

Beyond the health risks, this has also taken an emotional toll. I’ll be going through tooth extractions and a long, bumpy recovery right before graduation. I’ll be missing my front teeth as I walk across the stage, unable to fully participate in end-of-senior-year events and academic responsibilities. It’s a painful and isolating way to end an otherwise joyful journey.

Your contribution—no matter how small—would mean everything. It would help me get this essential surgery, alleviate the overwhelming financial stress, and allow me to focus on healing and closing this chapter with dignity.

Thank you so much for reading and for supporting me in this vulnerable moment.

With gratitude,
Sebastian
