Help Seb pay for his PhD
Hi everyone, my name is Ben, and I would like to help my best friend Seb pay for his living expenses during his physics PhD.
Seb’s dream is to get a PhD in order to become a researcher and/or professor. Seb left Nicaragua in 2013 to start his bachelor's degree in physics and chemistry. He graduated amongst the best in his class and went on to the University of Paris-Saclay to start a master's degree in physics. After his first year there, he was offered a scholarship to not only finish his degree in particle physics in Italy, but to get a double master's degree from the University of Ferrara and the University of Paris-Saclay. Seb discovered that his true passion within physics was blackholes, general relativity, and theoretical physics after completing his internships at Queen Mary University of London and the University of Brest. He successfully applied to one of the best master's degree programs in theoretical physics in France and after graduation was offered a position to do a PhD at the University of Sheffield on Quantum Cosmology. Unfortunately, he was not offered a scholarship to complete his studies, largely due to decreased funding from the pandemic.
Seb has decided to pursue the PhD even without funding, but in order to do so he will have to take out student loans. However, the student loan is capped and will not be able to cover both his tuition and living expenses.
Seb has overcome many challenges in his life and obtaining funding for his studies is just another one of those challenges. However, a PhD is hard enough without the added hardship of trying to find ways of financing your studies.
My goal is to help Seb complete his studies by helping him finance his living expenses. He will need approximately £30,000 over the next 4 years to be able to pay for all of his living expenses. I don’t know if we’ll be able to achieve this goal, but any little bit will help him on his journey to obtain his PhD.
Thank you so much for your donation!
