Hi I’m Seb, and I’m competing at the World Para Jiu Jitsu Championships in Abu Dhabi this November. It’s a huge moment for me, but it’s also one I’ve had to fight incredibly hard for.

I didn’t come into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu through a typical path. I found it at a time when I was struggling physically, mentally, and emotionally. I needed something to hold onto, something that reminded me I was still capable of pushing forward. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu became that anchor.

Training has been tough. There have been days where my body simply didn’t want to cooperate. Days where pain, fatigue, and frustration made me question whether I could keep going. I’ve had to adapt techniques, rethink how I move, and learn to train smarter not just harder. I’ve had to accept setbacks, work through injuries, and keep showing up even when it felt like progress was slipping away.

But I kept going. Because every time I step onto the mat, I feel like I’m reclaiming something. I’m not just training I’m proving to myself that I’m still here, still fighting, still growing.

Now, I’ve got a place at the World Championships. It’s a self-funded opportunity, and I need to raise £3,000 to cover flights, accommodation, transport, and food. I’m doing everything I can to make this happen, but I need help.
