Help With The Rent

In 2014, my life took a turn when my parents separated. The emotional abuse during the divorce deeply affected me, leading to years of depression and struggles with addiction. I lost a stable job, lost connection with friends and family, and coped with pain pills.

After years of unemployment and caregiving for my dad, I finally began therapy, which helped me open up and begin healing. However, my dad’s declining condition meant he had to move back in with me, and now we live in a home that is unsafe and under foreclosure.

In order to make progress on my goal of safer living conditions, I need some help. I can't rely on public assistance programs to help me, and apartments are not cheap. The average cost in my area for a single bedroom apartment is $1,500 a month, with between a $1,500 and $2,000 deposit and excluding power and internet. I'm giving a rough estimate of $25,000 for 12 months of rent and utilities, but this amount may increase depending on which utilities are or are not included. In the unlikely event this GoFundMe exceeds the set goal, any additional funds will go towards future rent and utility payments or basic household items and furniture.

Finding a safe home is my biggest priority right now. Accomplishing this will not only allow me to rest easier but also provide me with more time and energy to do the things I want to do.
