My name is Melinda, and I’m reaching out for help so my dog Season can receive the service dog training she needs. Season is a rescued Australian cattle dog/boxer mix who was found on the streets and brought to our local shelter. From the moment she joined our family, she’s shown an incredible bond with me—especially as I’ve faced some of the toughest challenges of my life.
Three years ago, I was diagnosed with stage 4 triple negative breast cancer. After a long and difficult fight, I beat cancer and have been in recovery. However, I still struggle with serious medical issues, including POTS, heart racing, sudden drops in blood pressure, dizziness, headaches, blackouts, and dangerous falls—sometimes even down the stairs. I see multiple doctors and specialists, but these symptoms continue to affect my daily life.
Season has an amazing instinct for my needs. She often knows before I do when my heart rate or blood pressure drops. She stops me from falling, alerts my boyfriend or my son when I’m in trouble, and gives me a sense of safety I haven’t felt in years. With professional service dog training, Season could do even more to help me stay safe and independent.
Any help you can give me to help Season get her service dog training would mean the world to us. Your support will help us take the next step together, and I am so grateful for any kindness you can share.
