My name is Sean Wilkinson. I am a 31, almost 32-year-old Cystic Fibrosis patient from Michigan. Since the day I was born, I've been in and out of hospitals so much that you probably wouldn't believe me if I told you how many. Over the last 31 years, I have been given extremely strong and reliable medications to treat everything from bronchitis, pneumonia, MRSA, staphylococcus, and many other chronic conditions. In 2019, my whole world changed. A medication called Trikafta changed my life forever and gave me a second shot at life. I am so grateful to all those involved in the process of making this medication, and all of the doctors that have treated me, especially Dr. Carey Lumeng and Dr. Thomas Sisson of the University of Michigan Pulmonary and Cystic Fibrosis clinics.
Due to all of the medications that I've been forced to let flow through my veins so I could stay alive, they ruined my teeth. I've lost many on the bottom and a couple on top. It's taken my confidence away, and my smile. I can see the heartbreak in the mirror and in my mother's eyes, who pretty much raised me by herself and is the best mother and friend I could ever ask for .
I am in the process of getting implants that will take the pain away, allow me to eat (in general and properly), and smile with confidence for the first time in a long time. I have set this goal amount to cover the surgery, appointments afterwards, and any additional expenses that I can't afford and neither will my insurance. Any and every donation will be appreciated from the bottom of my heart and my family's. I will be updating my progress and hopefully be able to show everyone what my bright blue eyes and smile should look like ❤️
