We are happily residents of Wamego (one is a teenager hence the anonymous. Teens these days amirite? ) as proof of not being a scam, we’ve lived south of the railroad for all our 13 years. We really do love it here.
I wish this was a positive post. This time, it’s not.
I’ll try to keep this short. Last April, my husband lost his job. We live on his side gig until December. I get a small amount of money, having a disability since 2001.
He got extremely ill in December. Two hospitals, not home for Christmas which was terrifically hard on the kid.
January rolls around. Two more hospitals but the fourth we really almost lost him . He spent about four months in hospital.
Cut to the chase. We have no money, one car that needs maintenance, and this is the last place I wanted to ask. I mean, who wants to ask neighbors for money? We do have a GoFundMe.
The last time the EMTs came into our house because he couldn’t get off the floor of our upstairs bathroom, they discovered my deep secret. Our house was very messy. We were told to clean up. And between the two of us I’d say we’re about 90% there.
But we have no money for anything (we do have plenty of food thanks to snap). We have drained options with all churches and charity in town.
This is embarrassing to admit, but my husband isn’t going to qualify for the disability he paid into for thirty years.
We need money. Like, cry at night need money. Maybe some nice cleaning supplies. Or a a couple large totes for storage. Or….anything.
And honestly, we don’t know many people here, even after all these years. Even advice on where to meet people would be so appreciated. I want to find a way to not get so buried under ever again
