Help Sean recover and thrive in Lake Tahoe!
Donation protected
On Oct 10th, 2023, less than a month after I married the love of my life, Sean suffered a life altering spinal cord injury resulting in paralysis in his legs and hands, with a quadriplegic diagnosis at the age of 34. Sean is in good spirits, is already making huge strides towards recovery, and is lucky to not have suffered any brain injuries, he is still the same Sean you know and love, despite experiencing a 40-45 foot fall (a little over 3 stories) to his neck and back. He has already spent over 2 months between the hospital and rehab, but has not yet returned home due to insurance issues that we face due to living in a rural area. Sean’s main goal right now is to return home to live an independent lifestyle where he was born, raised, and worked in Lake Tahoe, CA.
Although we are so grateful that his fall was not worse, it has left Sean and I in a place of daunting uncertainty with regards to our future. We know there will be many things that are not deemed “medically necessary” by insurance that we will need to continue a successful and happy livelihood in Tahoe, and as we continue to transition with this huge change in our lives. Sean will need a lot of medical equipment, ongoing medical care, therapy, home care, and adaptive items that will fit his new lifestyle.
We are hopeful for a full recovery for Sean. This may take years or his entire lifetime to achieve - it is unknown and too soon for anyone to tell how far he will go, and we hope he will go farther than we all expect! Please help us do everything we can to ensure we are able to make that happen as quickly and comfortably as possible. Thank you for supporting our family and taking the time to hear our story.
