My name is Jesse Benedick, and I am a co-worker and friend of Sean McClung. Sean is actually the guy who taught me how to do my job when I was first starting my career over 10 years ago. To this day, Sean is a great friend, and someone who is an invaluable resource to our team. I am creating this page today to raise awareness to the situation Sean, his wife Kelsey Shay, daughter Amelia, and their dog Rico are currently going through.

The Shay/McClung family lives in Vilano Beach, FL., which was devastated due to Hurricane Matthew. The area received some of the worst damage that the storm dealt, including sustained storm surge, and hurricane force winds. In the wake, an impassible debris field littered the area. The family could not return home for days. When they finally did, they found the interior of their home had received 2ft of surge water, which inundated every surface, appliance, and possession. Unlike a flooded basement, this occurred to the one and only floor of the home. They essentially lost everything.

Post storm the family is homeless. They stay with friends, while the dog goes to doggy day care. Each chance they get, they go to the house to try and personally perform labor to keep costs down. They’ve trashed all of their possessions and gutted rooms. When they attempted to turn on the power, the house nearly burned down as circuits arced and burned. It’s really a bad situation.

The purpose of this campaign is to raise money for Kelsey and Sean to go towards their additional living expenses (ALE). The family is homeless and their insurance policy does not provide ALE coverage. I also would like to raise money to go towards their substantial hurricane deductible and additional costs due to limitations in coverage. Rebuilding is hard and expensive. This is where you can help.

I know many people whom have personally asked me how the family are doing. All have said if they need anything, to just let them know. Well, I’m letting you know.
