***UPDATE***
I HAVE BEEN TRANSPLANTED!!!!! On 11/7 I received the gift of life! Though I have been transplanted there are more costs associated with that. I’ll be taking anti-rejection meds for the rest of my life and have bi-weekly doctor appointments/ labs for at least the next 6 months to a year.
Help Sean Fight Kidney Failure and Stay Afloat
Hi, my name is Sean Fennessey, and I’m reaching out for your help during one of the most challenging times of my life.
I served in Afghanistan, and while I was injured during my time there, I’ve been in another kind of battle ever since — one that’s lasted nearly 15 years. In 2011, I was diagnosed with kidney failure, and over the years, my condition has steadily worsened. Now, I’m undergoing regular dialysis and working toward a life-saving kidney transplant.
On top of everything, I’m a father of four beautiful children who mean the world to me. They are my reason for fighting, even when things feel overwhelming. But the truth is, it’s nearly impossible to provide for them and stay afloat while I deal with this illness.
Dialysis leaves me drained. I’ve fallen behind on rent, groceries, and transportation costs for frequent medical appointments and transplant-related care. The pressure of trying to hold everything together — as a dad and a patient — is more than I can manage right now.
I’ve set this fundraiser to reflect a year’s worth of essential expenses:
Rent and housing stability for my family
Food and everyday necessities
Transportation to dialysis and transplant appointments
Out-of-pocket medical and travel costs
Every donation—big or small—helps me keep going, stay present for my kids, and focus on healing instead of just surviving.
If you’re unable to give, sharing this with your friends and networks would still mean a great deal to me.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring.
— Sean
