As some of you may know, our dear friends son, Seamus was recently diagnosed with a severe E. Coli infection that has led to dangerous complications. What began as what we thought was a simple illness quickly became life-threatening. The infection developed into hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a rare but serious condition that can cause kidney failure, anemia, and other life-altering complications.

Seamus has already endured countless lab draws, IV fluids and other miscellaneous testing. His little body is working so hard to heal, but the road ahead is still uncertain. With his kidneys only functioning at 50% the likelihood of dialysis is extremely high. He will need ongoing hospital care, follow-up with kidney specialists, and close monitoring to make sure his body recovers.

As parents, watching your child go through something so frightening and beyond your control is devastating. On top of the emotional toll, the financial strain of medical bills, travel to and from the hospital, time away from work, and the unknowns of future care is overwhelming.
