Scrappy is a four-year-old rescue dog who has brought so much joy and laughter to my life and our neighborhood. He’s spunky, funny, and well-known for his brightly colored harness and daily walks, where he greets everyone with kisses and a wagging tail. Scrappy loves playing keep away, fetch, and tug of war, and he’s never without one of his favorite toys, which he carries around and suckles on for comfort. He’s truly a good boy who loves people and makes every day brighter.

In November, Scrappy’s health took a sudden turn. He stopped eating, became lethargic, and lost interest in everything he loved. After rushing him to the vet, we learned he needed an emergency spleenectomy. The surgery revealed multiple masses, and soon after, Scrappy developed swelling in his paws and lower limbs. A biopsy confirmed lymphoma, and further analysis determined it was Type B. Since December, Scrappy has been receiving weekly cancer treatments at Purdue University Lafayette Small Animal Hospital. The costs of his care are mounting, but I’m determined to give him every chance to keep living his happy, playful life.

The past three years have been incredibly hard. I lost my dog Rocky to cancer, then Elly Shamrock in a tragic accident, and my sister passed away in late 2022. Rocky died three months after my sister, and our cat Tinker passed three months after that. I adopted Elly as a rescue on my sister’s birthday, but she passed in February 2023. I found Scrappy a week later, when his previous owner was about to abandon him to a pound. Through all this loss, Scrappy has been a source of hope and comfort. I’m asking for help to cover his cancer treatments and give him the best chance to stay by my side. Any support means the world to us, as I was laid off in July, 2025. I’m deeply grateful for your kindness.
