I'm Jessi, and this is Scout, my sweet Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix. Scout's a loving rescue pup who has given our blended family endless love and emotional support. He's been our steadfast companion during work and play, and has the gentlest of souls.
Recently, Scout started having difficulty eating and breathing. Every time he'd try to eat, he'd cough and wheeze and eventually abandon his meal. After many vet visits and uncomfortable tests, we learned he had a tumor in his esophagus, making it difficult to swallow.
Scout received a diagnosis of Stage 5 Lymphoma. Unfortunately, because of the tumor's location, surgery isn't an option. Scout's best hope is with a regimen of chemotherapy and steroids.
The good news? So far, early treatments have been effective at shrinking the tumor so he can eat again, and he's acting like his usual curious, goofy self.
But the cancer is working against him, and time is of the essence. Here's how you can help...

To have any chance of remission, Scout will need weekly chemotherapy treatments and an ongoing steroid regimen. In addition, he'll require regular monitoring and bloodwork. And, of course, lots of love and attention (we've got that part handled!).
Unfortunately, the cost of these treatments add up fast. The chemotherapy alone is a significant expense and we're hoping you can give what you can to help Scout on his road to remission.
Already, about $6,000 has gone into Scout's testing and treatment. We estimate another $10,000 in vet expenses.
All money raised will go directly to pay for Scout's veterinary bills. Should we exceed what we need, the remainder will be donated to a local animal shelter.
If you can't give, please share this campaign with as many people as you can. Post it on social media, send it to your friends and family, and encourage others to chip in. Every little bit helps.
Thank you so much for your support. Scout has provided his entire family with an incredible amount of emotional support, especially during the lockdown of the pandemic. We're eager for every single additional moment we can get with him.
