A few weeks ago, my oldest brother Scottie Millwood, was hospitalized with an intestinal blockage that required surgical intervention. Scans showed a mass that led to the removal of 10-12 inches of his colon, as well as 13 lymph nodes. So far, one of the lymph nodes proved to be cancerous as well as the mass found in his colon. We are awaiting pathology results on everything else. Scottie will see the Oncologist in the next few weeks to discuss further treatment and prognosis. He has been placed on medical leave for at least 2-6 months, and is drawing short term disability for now.

Scottie has always been one to help others when they needed it, even if it meant cutting himself short. With two children still living at home, and his wife to support, these next few months carry hardship that he shouldn't have to think about, as he needs to keep as positive an outlook as possible going into this battle.
