For the last year and a half my landlord has been trying to sell the building where I live, has got close a couple times, but finally decided that it will be easier to sell the house he currently lives in and move his family into this one. (Thus, the early creation date on this fundraiser - I thought this was going to close back in February but the deal fell through.) I have until the end of June to find a new place to live. I only have part-time employment and live as frugally as possible paycheck to paycheck, leaving zero buffer available for unexpected costs like this. My choices here are to either beg the internet for money to assist with moving costs and a deposit on a new place, or to become homeless.
The money raised will go to moving and storage expenses, first month's rent, security deposit, and any other fees that come up during the moving process such as background checks. I haven't had a car or a driver's license since the early 2000s, so paying someone to haul all my stuff will unfortunately eat into these costs. Every dollar will help me avoid homelessness and get a fresh start in a new place.
If you've read this far, I'm incredibly grateful. To be frank, nobody I know seems to be doing well financially any more, and it feels like we're all just handing the same few paltry dollars back and forth during our respective emergencies. If you can help, that's fabulous. If you can't assist with money but still care enough to share this, you have my eternal gratitude. And if you have a line on stable full-time employment in the Salt Lake City area, I'm all ears!
