Help Scott with medical funds
My name is Megan and I am starting this fundraiser for Scott Farquharson. Scott, is a 56 year old man from Plattsburgh, NY. Scott is suffering from a rare disease called Pure Red Cell Aplasia. PRCA is a type of aplastic anemia affecting the red blood cells. Scott has had numerous tests and treatments and he is dependent on biweekly blood infusions. A bone marrow transplant is the last option for a positive outcome.
This disease has caused the bone marrow to stop producing healthy red cells in adequate quantities to sustain his body. Scott’s birth immune system will will be replaced with the immune system of a donor during this procedure. Dana-Farber in Boston has advised they found a match for Scott and the transplant is scheduled for September 30th.
The Bone Marrow transplant will require at least an initial month of isolation at Dana Farber hospital . After, he will need to travel weekly to Boston for checkups or find an extended place to stay for three months. Once released From Dana-Farber hospital he will need to remain in isolation for one year.
Scott has always been a hard worker. Unfortunately, he has not been able to work this past year. He worked for the Samuel F. Vilas home for seniors in Plattsburgh, NY. Expenses for travel and lodging are not covered by Scott’s insurance for himself and girlfriend Kim Shea ,who will be his caregiver during this time. Let’s help Scott from worrying about money for any medical, financial and travel expenses so he can focus on getting himself healthy.
Scott has always helped out others in his job and personal life. Please help Scott during this difficult time. No amount is to little and please share to as many people you can. Scott is hoping to get back to his beloved tractor and woods and needs your help.
According to an internet search this entire procedure could cost upwards to $800,000. All amounts will help offset the expenses already incurred and expenses to follow. You may see that there are fundraisers for Scott on both Facebook and Gofundme. We are hoping to reach as many people as possible. Please share!
