My name is Scott. I am 62. I live in Orchidland Estate in Puna on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi. I am raising this money for my own recovery after Hurricane Lala and after my work truck and tools were stolen. I am not raising money for anyone else.
Hurricane Lala did a lot of damage at my place. I am still trying to get back on my feet.
After the storm my gold Ford Ranger, plate HLU 892, was stolen with my work tools inside. I reported it to Hawaiʻi Police Department. Report number 26-071981. The truck has since been recovered. Zero tools were returned with it. I have insurance through USAA. That claim is open. They only cover $250 of personal items inside the vehicle.
I was not able to work while the truck and tools were gone. I am still not able to work the same way because none of the tools came back. Because of that I am using part of these funds to pay my rent. This campaign covers rent I could not earn, and work equipment insurance will not cover.
How the funds will be spent
Rent while I cannot work: $650
Stolen work equipment: $4,032
- Honda mower: $680
- Echo SRM-2620 trimmer: $409
- Milwaukee pruning saw with battery: $269
- Ryobi 40V leaf blower with battery: $319
- Two Milwaukee socket sets: $207
- Leoch 12V 8D battery: $1,600
- Battery charger: $100
- Extension cord reel: $93
- Trimmer heads: $105
- Other yard-care equipment: $250
Used iPad 7th gen: $125
The stolen toolbox held hand tools, sockets, wrenches, and other yard-care equipment. Inside the cab were my iPad, walking stick, and other personal items. None of that was returned with the truck. I cannot do my jobs without those tools.
Any leftover will go toward getting my small lawn-care business running again.
No funds will be used towards knives, explosives, ammunition, firearms, or other weaponry or accessories.
Mahalo for any help. Sharing the page matters as much as donating.
