Scott was surprisingly admitted to Abbott Northwestern Hospital on Friday, May 7 due to an abnormal echocardiogram and breathing/heart issues. After many tests, an angiogram, a heart cath., detailed echos, and many other tests the doctors determined he needs surgery to replace a congenital defective Aortic Valve and also fix an aortic aneurysm. His left ventricle is enlarged and not functioning well. There is a very good possibility that an internal heart pump LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) will be implanted to help his left ventricle pump blood.
On May 11, he was scheduled to be released for a week before the surgery but after performing a cardiac MRI , plans changed for letting him go home to spend time with his son. The test results showed the right ventricle is also in a weaken state, putting him at an even greater risk.
Thankfully the doctors and surgeons have been very thorough and his surgery is now scheduled for Thursday May 20th at 11am. After 13 days of being in the hospital and he is now making forward progress . Once surgery is completed, he will remain in the ICU on a ventilator for a few days and then a few more days for additional care. He will then be moved back to the heart hospital floor for a couple weeks.
Scott has a long road ahead of him with months of rehab and adjusting to his new lifestyle while out of work.
Please keep Scott in your thoughts and prayers for a fast recovery so Myles can have his daddy back ❤️
