Help Scott pay for ALS medical expenses

More than 9 years ago, my Uncle Scott, received some of the worst news you can possibly imagine, he had been diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. It is a progressive disease, which means it gets worse over time. It affects nerves in your brain and spinal cord that control your muscles. As your muscles get weaker, it gets harder for you to walk, talk, eat, and breathe.

The doctors normally give those diagnosed 2 to 5 years to live. Scott, being the strong person he is, has exceeded this and now requires in home care from multiple caregivers on a daily basis as he has lost most movement and vocals. These substantial costs add up to over $5,000 monthly plus medications and equipment to assist him. His Social Security is enough to cover home expenses, leaving no excess to pay for medical, diminishing financial resources. He also needs a handicap van.

We want Scott to live as comfortably as possible in the home he built for the rest of his life. We are asking friends and family for any amount of support (anything helps) to help make his time the most comfortable and stress-free we can. As we endeavor to battle this horrible disease, all donations will assist in daily caregiving, medical and overall needs.

Scott is a Bellingham native who loves the sprint car dirt track and boating the local waters. He's one of the most giving and kind person I know. Let's help him live his best life moving forward.
