In November, Scott and Lori (Record) Logan took a big leap of faith. After years in Connecticut, surrounded by wonderful friends, neighbors, and colleagues, they decided to chase a long-dreamed-of fresh start in Maine. They sold their home, Scott wrapped up his job, and they closed on a new house where Scott would begin a new position and Lori would look for one once they were settled.
Just eight days later, everything changed. While riding his motorcycle to Maine—with Lori driving behind him—Scott rounded a blind curve and was struck in a devastating accident. Miraculously, he survived. But he suffered extensive injuries: both arms broken, a broken leg, several ribs fractured, and clavicle cracked.
The timing could not have been worse. Scott had already left his Connecticut job, and with the federal government shut down and uncertainty around the health-insurance marketplace, he and Lori decided to wait a short time before enrolling in new coverage. It was during that brief gap—when he was completely uninsured—that the accident happened.
Scott is now home from the hospital. Lori is caring for him full-time. Doctors estimate he will be unable to work for at least six months, and Lori cannot pursue work until he is stable and independent again.
I have known Lori for a decade, ever since she was one of my best college students. I was thrilled when she married Scott. They are honest, hardworking, generous people who have always shown up for others. Now they need help getting through an unimaginable moment.
Any contribution—no matter the amount—will make a real difference as they face medical bills, lost income, and the costs of rebuilding their life in Maine. If you cannot donate, please share this campaign. Thank you for helping Scott and Lori find stability, healing, and hope during this difficult time.
