Help Scott & Lisa Carver In Their Time Of Need

Let me start this GoFundMe by saying that I have never done one of these because I felt funny about asking for money for any cause. That was until my friend Scott Carver’s wife Lisa was hit by a drunk driver while walking with her family and dogs on a sidewalk in Rancho Cucamonga on May 10th of this year. This is something we all do with our families every day and could happen to all of us in the blink of an eye.

I have known Scott and Lisa for over 25 years. I worked with Scott at SBHS when I started teaching, and we became close friends over the years. It has been a pleasure watching their family and marriage grow.

The reason I am starting this GoFundMe for Lisa and Scott is simple. Although they have great insurance through his teaching job, tons of expenses not covered are stacking up. Currently, Lisa is at home, being taken care of by Scott. She is bedridden and can’t stand or walk. They are paying for all the items for her care out of pocket, and Scott is going to have to take off teaching until January and has to pay for his substitute out of pocket. Scott used all of his sick days when his mom and dad both got sick, and passed away, and Lisa is a stay-at-home mom.

It is a miracle that Lisa survived in the first place. She had 19 fractures throughout her body. She had five fractured ribs that needed to be plated, eight fractures in her pelvis and hips, all now held together with four large screws, a fractured shoulder blade, finger, ulna bone and a completely destroyed left knee. Lisa was in the Pomona Valley Hospital Trauma ICU for eight days, then the med/surg wing for another ten days. In total, she spent almost 24 days hospitalized.
