In April of 2020 Scott was diagnosed with stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's B-cell lymphoma. His medical team was hopeful that with immediate action they would have a chance of curing it or at least putting it into remission. Scott was started on a very strong dose of chemotherapy which he responded well to at first. His cancer shrank very quickly and he started feeling much better. Unfortunately as he approached his final treatment his cancer stopped responding and began to grow again. What we hoped was would be a minor set back turned into another treatment plan with even stronger doses of chemotherapy. The doctors were hopeful that with this new approach Scott’s cancer would start to respond and start shrinking again.
As we all know too well, sometimes things do not go as planned, Scott’s cancer has not responded at all to his new treatment plan and we are left with one final option.
As soon as possible Scott will be making a trip to Boston for car-t cell therapy. He will be required to live in Boston for a minimum of 4 weeks if all goes as planned with the potential of longer if any complications arise. With this treatments come many risks but also the chance to put his cancer into remission. Scott and his family remain hopeful that he will have many great years to come with his grandkids and enjoying what life has to offer
Anyone who knows Scott knows he is a kind and caring husband, father & grandfather who would do anything to help someone out. As Scott has been off work since April it has already started to put financial strain on his family and this trip will come with significant travel and living expenses while in Boston. His family has created this go fund me page in hopes of alleviating some of the medical and travel expenses associated with his trip to Boston. We appreciate your support and well wishes during this difficult time and will keep people up to date on Scott’s progress.
