Help Scott Jenkins reopen Poseidon Adventures after a fire.

I'm starting this Go Fund Me fundraiser for my dad, Scott Jenkins, because on Monday night at 11:34 pm, he called 911 to be the first to report an instant inferno next to his store, which resulted in his scuba shop, Poseidon Adventures suffering severe fire, smoke, ash, and water damage. Sadly he's had to close his doors for the first time in 37 years and he's going to need a lot of help to be able to reopen his business after the demolition and construction are finished.

The fire began in the front of the 50' x 300' building that was right next to his scuba store, and there is only about 15'-20' between the two buildings.

Since the two buildings are positioned parallel to each other, the firemen had to fight the rapidly growing fire by cutting large holes through his back walls, and busting out windows in order to hold the fire back in addition to extinquishing multiple fires inside his dive store.

As many of you know, my dad has been an active part of the diving community for 46 years and has owned his scuba shop for 37 years. He was very reluctant to ask for financial help, but as the demolition in his store is progressing, and through many discussions and encouragement from the diving community, he's finally come around to the idea that this is something that is just too big for him to do on his own.

The many challenges he is facing are extensive such as having to replace damaged equipment, inventory, store displays, replacing several months of lost sales revenue and maintaining the current and loyal staff that has been employed since the mid 1990's.

Unfortunately, the other building burned completely to the ground, but the good news is that no one suffered any injuries or death.

The many firemen who unselfishly protected Poseidon Adventures from total destruction deserve a million KUDOS for risking their lives throughout the entire night while the explosions from all the auto repair businesses were constantly going off for at least 2-3 hours. It sounded, (and looked) like a massive fireworks finale or a battle from a war zone.

For decades, people have been telling me countless stories of what my dad means to them, the positive effect he had on them, or how he was always eager to help people with a smile on his face and a helping hand. I'm hoping that some of you who have a special place in your heart for my dad might be able to help him keep his 46 year dream alive, by helping to reopen Poseidon Adventures after all of the demolition and construction are completed.
