I'm John Kovalic, the cartoonist behind the Dork Tower comic, a strip that would not be what it is without one of its central characters...IGOR!

Igor is based almost directly on my great friend (and Navy veteran) Scott Olman, who underwent a leg amputation this spring, leaving him and his wife in dire financial straits. This is a fundraiser to help Scott and Dawn pay their staggering medical bills, and to help with living expenses.

Scott refuses to become pessimistic, and has remained positive (and Igor-like) thought a series of medical problems. Hopefully, this is the end of most of them, but it's left him and Dawn with struggling with serous medical bills.
