My Story
My name Is Scott Neff and I have been a cheerleading and tumbling coach for the last 22 years. Coaching has been something that has given me purpose, fulfillment and happiness. It is the one thing in my life that I am the most passionate about and that has been a constant. It is something that has grounded me and kept me waking up every day excited to make a difference. What I give to every athlete I coach is the highest level of compassion, care, attention and guidance. Growing up, I didn't have a stable family environment and didn't have coaches who invested in me the ways I needed them to. But I had teachers who cared a lot about me and took me under their wing to make sure I had the support and guidance that I so desperately needed in my life. If it weren't for those teachers, I know that I would not have anything close to the life, character and strength that I have today.
My Purpose
Carrying my experiences growing up, I know that kids have 3 key people in their life that significantly impact and influence the people they will become. Those 3 key people are parents, teachers and coaches. With every kid I coach, I keep that in the forefront of my mind knowing that I may be the only key person in their life that will make a positive and significant difference. I don't know if they are getting the support, guidance and mentoring from their parents and teachers so I make sure that they get that from me, all through coaching the sport of cheerleading and tumbling. Being that to the kids I coach is the most fulfilling and purposeful thing I have done in my 41 years on this earth. Making a positive difference in people's lives has been my life's work thus far and something that I feel like I was born to do. I see myself coaching and making a difference in people's lives until my body no longer lets me. It is and will always be my greatest passion.
My Mission
I recently was financially forced to resign from my coaching job due to changes in pay structure that would not allow for me to continue to support myself. I tried for weeks to come to a resolution and make my former boss understand but I was unfortunately not successful. I researched other potential employment elsewhere and was served a cease and desist letter informing me that my non compete will be aggressively enforced. I have no interest nor am I trying to take any business from my former boss. I offered to sign a non solicit agreement where I wouldn’t coach any athletes from her business but I was told they will enforce the non compete as is. This seems to be singling me out and trying to keep me from my livelihood and ability to make a living. This seems like this is about more than just a non compete. This seems personal. There have been 4 other employees over the last 3 years who have left and coached in violation of the non compete but they were not pursued or required to obey it. I feel retaliated against and unfairly treated and want to fight for my right to make a living doing what I love and what I'm appreciated for. I am obtaining legal counsel to fight this and need help financing it. This is not something I want to do but I feel like I need to. Being targeted and singled out like this is not something that I can stand for. I have made a living off of coaching for the last 22 years and just simply want to continue doing so. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for any support you are willing to give!
