On Friday, November 3rd, Scott went by ambulance to the Tomah ER due to excruciating back pain; after being released that day, his pain did not subside. The following Sunday, he was brought to La Crosse ER where x-rays were taken and he was sent home again with no diagnosis of the pain.
On Tuesday, November 7th, 911 was called again and he was taken to Tomah and transferred to La Crosse that evening where he was admitted - his life hung in the balance from that moment for the next three days.
Scott was placed in a medically induced coma and had a breathing tube inserted; he had a fever of 105 and his body was fighting something, but they didn’t know what. Over the next few days and after several tests, they diagnosed him with meningitis and MRSA (infection) in his blood; they also realized his spine was encapsulated in an abscess of MRSA as well. He was living hour to hour; we were told by a doctor that this doctor had had three patients with this before, and they were all dead.
But, Scott beat those odds!! On day four, his breathing tube was removed; then he still had 21 more days in the hospital, IV therapy for antibiotics, Physical and Occupational Therapy, and much, much more…
On Saturday, December 2nd, Scott was released after 25 days in the hospital! He is recovering well, but will be off from work for quite some time and has a lot of rehabilitation and bills in front of him. He doesn’t want “charity”, as he’s a hard-working, proud man who would help anyone who needs it - but, please help him in his time of need. Thank you!
