Help Scott beat throat cancer

My dad has always been such a hard worker and provider for his family. He worked 2 jobs for a while until he was finally able to start his own construction business. Being self employed has been great for him until recently with his cancer diagnosis.

In April, Scott began having a hard time swallowing and the doctors just told him it was acid reflux. Luckily he pressed for further testing and it was discovered that he had Stage 3 Esophageal Cancer. More testing was done and he was started on a 6 week treatment of chemotherapy and radiation concurrently. Throughout the 6 weeks of intense treatment, Scott continued to work his very physically demanding job with rarely a day off.

He is currently healing from the 6 week treatment while his body recovers to be strong enough for a major surgery on October 1st. The surgery will last 5-6 hours and remove a large portion of his esophagus and stomach. The doctors expect him to be in hospital for about a week recovering and then at home for an additional 3 months. He will be able to take nothing by mouth for at least a month and will have a feeding tube providing nutrition as well as a drain for excess fluid. The doctors have told him that he will not be able to work for at least 3 months.

Scott is self employed and unfortunately, if he is not working, he is not making any money to pay bills or medical costs. I wanted to start this go fund me to help cover some of his financial obligations during the time that he will be out of work so he can focus on healing rather than stress about money.
