My name is Scott Hemp, and together with my girlfriend Annette Sposato, we are reaching out for support as we try to rebuild our lives after a devastating tragedy. Annette dedicated nearly eight years as a Store Manager at Sunglass Hut, but recently stepped down to an Assistant Manager role to focus on her health. She faces ongoing challenges with diabetes, high blood pressure, and kidney failure. I have proudly served the City of Venice for 12 years as a solid waste truck driver. Despite our hard work, we were living in a camper with our beloved 5-year-old Yorkie, Ava, doing our best to make a home together.

On July 11, 2026, everything changed when the A/C unit in our camper caught fire. In a matter of moments, we lost everything we owned—including our precious Ava. I tried desperately to save her, but when I opened the camper door, I was thrown back by the flames and sustained second-degree burns on my face, neck, and hands. The loss of Ava and all our belongings has left us heartbroken and traumatized. Now, we are homeless and searching for a safe place to call home, somewhere we can begin to heal and rebuild.

We are incredibly grateful for the kindness and support from our community, but right now, we have nowhere to store donated items or even lay our heads.
