My name is Scot Reyes and I am an occupational therapist. I am raising funds for my upcoming cataract surgery for both of my eyes, which will cost a total of $7,000 ($3,500 per eye). My eye surgeries are March 5th, 2026 for my Right eye and March 9th,2026 for my left eye. I understand it’s soon and the idea of this fund was just recently suggested to me
My right eye has extensive cataracts at approximately 70% occlusion, and my left eye has 40% occlusion, which makes seeing during bright days and bright overcast days very difficult for me. Also, driving at night is a challenge, so I try not to drive at night simply because I see bursts of light when light comes directly in my direction, and I can be blinded.
Family and friends who know me well and understand me as a person know that I am truly not a person to ask for help. However, the lack of work in my profession has impacted my income, which leaves me searching for financial assistance. Since October 2025, my work has decreased due to increased employee hires and decreased patient admissions at 8 rehab facilities. From October, November, December 2025 through January 2026, I haven't worked more than 8 hours a week, and the money I was saving for my eye surgeries went to rent, mortgage, and daily living expenses. If I can raise even half of my goal to just have my Right eye cataract surgery would be such a blessing to me.
Presently, my vision doesn't affect my work, yet it does impact my driving and activities because I avoid the sunlight, which impacts my vision.
Thank you and I appreciate your consideration in helping me with my cataract surgeries.
Your friend,
Scot
