❤️ Scooter’s Journey Continues

First, I want to thank everyone who has supported Scooter by donating and sharing his story.

For those just learning about Scooter, I rescued him during the first week of May, when he was about eight weeks old. He couldn’t use his back legs, and after X-rays showed no broken or fractured bones, euthanasia was suggested because of the severity of his condition. I couldn’t give up on him without trying everything I could, so I searched for another option and found Pet Motion Veterinary Rehabilitation Center.

Scooter was evaluated by the rehabilitation team, and they found something very encouraging—he reacted to pain stimulation in his hind legs. While this doesn’t guarantee a full recovery, it gives them hope that, with rehabilitation, he may make enough progress to transition to a special-needs cat rescue. They are teaching me therapy exercises to do with him at home, while Scooter also receives specialized rehabilitation treatments that aren’t available outside the clinic.

With Pet Motion’s permission, anyone who would prefer to donate directly toward Scooter’s care may contact Pet Motion Veterinary Rehabilitation Center at 609 N. Midland Blvd in Nampa, Idaho, and ask that their donation be applied to Scooter’s rehabilitation treatments.

I’m also hoping to connect with a reputable rescue or experienced foster in the Boise area that may be willing to care for Scooter during his estimated 5–8 weeks of rehabilitation. If you know of a rescue or foster with experience caring for special-needs cats, I would be grateful for any recommendations.

If Scooter makes enough progress through rehabilitation to begin using the litter box on his own, I already have a special-needs rescue that has agreed to take him. Right now, he is unable to use the litter box independently, so rehabilitation is his best opportunity to reach that milestone. Achieving that goal would give him the opportunity to move into a rescue experienced in caring for special-needs cats and, ultimately, find a loving forever home.
