Hey everyone, this is an extremely hard post to write but Haley and I need help. In the last 2 days, Scooter has fallen ill rapidly into a fast acting anemia caused by an autoimmune disease. We rushed him to the emergency vet hospital late last night after he started showing signs of deterioration and went through the available options while the vets kept him from going into cardiac arrest from his low blood cell count. If you’ve been to my house, you know how much of a kick ass dog Scooter is, and why we decided to go down this treatment route.

He’s currently getting blood transfusions to get some healthy cell action going while they monitor him nonstop over the next couple of days.

Haley and I wanted to give Scooter, the ratty street dog with the largest heart in the world, a fair fighting chance at a longer life. Before we left the vet early this morning, we got the chance to see him before his treatment starts. Even with him being in a dangerous anemic state, hooked up to oxygen, and an IV, he still looked at us in his usual warming way with a tail wag.

Scooter is from the streets so he knows how to fight, but this will be a long one. This is why we’re asking for any kind of donation. Anything truly does help.
