Greetings and blessings to everyone.
My name is Schaun Reed, and I’m humbly reaching out to ask for your help in the biggest fight of my life.
Two and a half years ago, after my appendix ruptured, I received a life-changing diagnosis: Stage 4 cancer. On my birthday, I was told by the head of the oncology surgical center at Cedars-Sinai that the cancer was aggressive and located in my intestines. Dr. Jerry Stein, the head of the hospital, even told me, “You should be dead.”
But I refused to give up.
I began intensive chemotherapy — 4-hour sessions every three weeks — and after nearly a year of treatments, we achieved a 40% reduction. That was a victory. But the battle came at a cost: the chemotherapy caused collapsed blood vessels and left me with neuropathy in my feet that still affects me to this day.
Now, my doctors say Proton Therapy is my best and possibly only chance to beat this for good.
Unfortunately, my insurance (Kaiser) will not cover any part of this treatment, and the clinic requires $35,000 upfront before they’ll begin.
This is where I need your help.
I’m a proud father of three incredible kids — including a son on a full football scholarship, maintaining straight A’s — and I’ve helped raise many more. I was a stepfather to two wonderful girls for over a decade, cared for my niece for four years, and took in two nephews while their mother battled leukemia. I’ve spent my life giving love and support, and now I’m asking, with humility and hope, for support in return.
I’m not done fighting. I still have so much to live for.
Every donation — big or small — brings me one step closer to life-saving treatment.
Even if you can’t give, sharing this page with others would mean the world.
From the bottom of my heart:
Thank you.
God bless you for reading this, and for standing with me in this fight.
Goal: $35,000 (needed upfront for Proton Therapy)
With gratitude,
Schaun Reed
